Assignment 2 - Organisation Case Study: Written report & Oral presentation
You are required to choose an organisational change initiative with which you are familiar, or one which is well-publicised, and assess the approach taken by management in light of the contemporary literature. Using the literature on change management as a guide, critique how this change was (or is, or will be) implemented. You should articulate how each of the topics covered during the Man5010 course apply to the implementation of this change. The topics covered are history of management thinking; organisation environment (internal & external); planning; decision making; organisation structure; change; leadership; motivation; social responsibility and ethics and control.
As you prepare your case study analysis, you will determine which of these topics are most relevant to the initiative you are addressing and focus your analysis on these.
This task should be carried out individually.

2. Background of organisation and an overview of the situation you are intending to critically evaluation.
3. Define the issue: – What is the actual issue you are investigating and why is it important?
4. Theoretical ideas: This section should review the current theories in the area you have chosen. For example if you are critically evaluating the strategy of a company then you should review the current models/theories raised in the lecture/text and outline the advantages and disadvantages of each.
5. Critical analysis of the case using the theories, concepts and literature you have reviewed and use them to evaluate the actions/goals/outcomes of the organisation you are investigating.
6. Conclusion and recommendations
All of these aspects should be covered, although the headings do not need to correspond with them. Points 4 & 5 are considered the most significant, and may be discussed together.
Please remember that your document will be assessed as a professional document in both presentation and content. Remember university study is designed to improve your critical thinking skills and just paraphrasing material will not result in a good mark. Hi, Michelle I have some questions about assignment 2 and need your help.
Refer to assignment 2, I am not sure what exactly is meant by “organisational change initiative”? Would I choose a company, and analysis how the company change management?
I had much research on Toyota and IKEA.
The success of Toyota is based on a corporate philosophy known as the JUST IN TIME management. The system depends in part on a human resources management policy that stimulates employee creativity and loyalty but also on a highly efficient network. However, the company of external and internal environments have greatly changed recently. For example, the Japanese traditional culture had become seemly liability because the young generations in Japan lack the same commitment to traditional culture values as their parents and more influence from western. So for my report can I through analysis how both such external and internal factors that driving the management http://www.ukassignment.org/ change, and how the company face with those changes.
IKEA is a Swedish company so the company rely much on its Swedish organisational and management culture and gain success. So for my report can I write down how their management changes when the company is developing from national company to multinational company?
Could you me some suggestions or your opinions which one (IKEA OR TOYOTA) is better to used for assignment two case study?
