At present, a lot of bestselling books and films all set the background in a future word with exhausting resources and fall of civilization. This kind of dystopian fictions attracts the crowds especially teenagers. Imaging what dystopian means, an ideal world where everything is quite good. While dystopia is totally different, in a dystopian world the life is always dirty, short and savage. Why these books with dark contents could be so popular? Maggie Stiefvater, Jay Parini and Scott Westerfield gave their opinions respectively. 

Maggie Stiefvater thought the popularity of dystopia fictions among teenagers is not resulting from the pessimistic economy and culture, though this kind of opinion is hold by a lot of people and which is considered as a standard response. In Stiefvater’s opinion, the popularity of dark novels actually reflect the escapism of teenagers. Because nowadays the world is getting complex, and there are huge pressure faced by teenagers, when teenagers cannot handle with the evil of the world properly, they may be eager to escape from the real world. That’s the most important reason of the dark novels’ popularity.目前，很多畅销书籍和电影的背景设置在未来的资源枯竭型字的文明兴衰。这种反乌托邦小说吸引的人群，尤其是青少年。成像反乌托邦的手段，一个理想的世界里，一切是相当不错的。虽然的反乌托邦完全不同，在一个反乌托邦世界中的生命永远是肮脏的，短期和野蛮。为什么这些书与黑暗的内容可能会如此受欢迎？张曼玉，周杰伦Stiefvater Parini和斯科特·韦斯特分别献出了自己的意见。

张曼玉Stiefvater想不产生悲观的经济和文化的反乌托邦小说在青少年中的普及，但这种观点是保持了很多人，这被认为是作为一个标准的响应。在Stiefvater认为，黑暗小说的普及实际上反映了逃避现实的青少年。因为现在世界越来越复杂，并有青少年所面临的巨大压力，当青少年不能正确处理与世界的邪恶，他们可能是渴望逃离现实世界中。黑暗小说的受欢迎程度，这是最重要的原因。

 

 

Jay Parini thought the dark fictions attract teenagers, who feel trapped by school pressure which humiliate and unnerve them; testing, careers, misunderstanding of parents and teachers, and the complex outside world make them disappointed. That’s why the dystopian fictions are so popular because the dark contents and heroes destroying or changing the world make teenagers ease when they indulge themselves in the world of fictions. 

From the perspective of Scott Westerfeld, teenagers are not ready to face the tangle adult responsibilities, but they have to. In addition, even they try their best to take the responsibilities, yet they don’t be granted the powers and respects. The huge contrast lets them seek solace in the dystopian fictions. 

 

 

In my opinion, the dystopian fictions actually reflect personal experience of teenagers. The world is getting complex and young teenagers don’t know how to adapt the changing world because even their parents or teachers may not know; in addition teenagers are not mature enough, when they face such as school violence and attacks they don’t know how to protect themselves. When they are afraid and want to change the situation, dystopian dark fictions depicts a world can fully meet there expectations and aspirations. That’s the reason of the popularity of dystopian fictions.在我看来，反乌托邦小说实际上反映青少年的个人经验。世界正变得越来越复杂和年轻的青少年不知道如何适应不断变化的世界，因为即使他们的父母或老师可能不知道，除了青少年是不足够成熟，如学校暴力和攻击，他们不知道，当他们面对如何保护自己。当他们害怕，要改变这种状况，反乌托邦的黑暗小说描绘的世界可以充分满足期望和诉求。这是反乌托邦小说的普及的原因。
