我们今天观看的视频是关于同性恋的。罗尼叔叔和叙述者都是同性恋。从叙述者的语调来看，我们觉得罗尼叔叔和叙述者都受到周围环境的巨大压力。这段视频让我了解并了解同性恋的感受，这让我想起了我的一位好朋友，也是同性恋者。

The video we watched today was about homosexual. Both uncle Ronnie and the narrator are gay. From the tone of the narrator, we feel Uncle Ronnie and the narrator have suffered big pressure from surrounding environment. This video makes me understand and know gay’s feeling, which reminds me a close friend of mine, who is homosexual too.

He is from a small city of southwest China, and now working as a mechanic engineer in Shanghai, China. Shanghai is now one of biggest world financial centers, highly internationalized and civilized. However, in work place, especially state owned facilities, homosexual is still a taboo. He has to behave extremely carefully to not let anyone at work notice his sexual preference, though he has a serious and stable relationship with his boyfriend for years. More important and more scarier for him is that he cannot let his family knows. In the small town he grew up, a less developed remote and small city of China, homosexual is still taken as monster. He once told me that if his relatives and parents’ neighbors know his situation, there will be no room left for neither him nor his family. Meanwhile, his parents share the same prejudice with the relatives and neighbors. Now he is about thirty, his parents are pushing to get married. He once mentioned that his ex boyfriend, hiding his sexual preference,was married to a heterosexual woman when 32 out of family pressure, just like every traditional Chinese does. He is four years to that age now. He tries his best to live his life to the fullest in the coming four years. And after that, he may probably get married to a heterosexual woman after several blind dates too. Then start a tragedy of him and an innocent woman whose husband will never be able to live her. 

我为他感到非常抱歉。虽然越来越多的人理解和支持同性恋者和异性恋者一样，但在一些国家和地区，他们仍有很长的路要走平等权利和公众接受。祝福我的朋友们。

I feel deeply sorry for him. Though more and more people understand and support homosexual as equally as heterosexual, in some countries and regions, there is still long way for them to fight an equal right and public acceptance. Best wishes to my friends. 

This is a small learning memoir after watching Eminem’s music video Headlights from a first person standpoint of view. This is the first time I write this type of articles. In our group discussion, I proposed some ideas. In order to improve my writing skills, I decided to take them down as a smooth story or at least monologue. It feels a bit weird though. I will try my best.

Hi mom, I understand that in the past years, what I expressed in my songs may probably make you believe that I still blame you for kicking my out on Christmas eve, despite the snow and cold weather outside, nor what a wonderful Christmas I was looking forward to, for all the anger that you placed on me because of dad’s left, for Nate got taken away by the state at 8 years old and so on, the innumerous feuds between us. I hated you for years and composed the hatred into my lyrics to express to the whole world. I even took your right to witness the birth of your grandchildren. I thought it would make me feel better. However, it didn’t. The longer as I am being a farther, the better I understand you. I wanted to keep a cozy family for my kids. However, my marriages didn’t survive. All you did is the best you could for Nathan and me. I am no longer the little kid who had nowhere to go and belong to nowhere. It is time to remove the rock on my chest. I no longer hate you, mom, we still estrange though. 

Today we had the first group discussion of WRA 110, Chapter 5: Writing to Share Experience from The McGraw-Hill Guide: Writing for College Writing for Life. In the past, I wrote learning memoir when thinking myself as the only reader, out of my interest only. However, this Chapter provides me a new angle of learning memoir to attract audience’s interesting based on my personal experience and understanding, which I ignored. 

From the content of this chapter, there are four aspects should take into consideration when we write an article. They are they are rhetorical knowledge, critical thinking, reading and writing, writing process and knowledge of convention. Efficient writing require authors to make many choices, many of which selection is based on rhetorical knowledge, including the writer’s audience, the nature of the writer’s subject matter, and the writer’s relationship to the subject, etc. It is the tone of the article. Critical thinking is, in one aspect, to follow hypothesis to explain the challenges of a piece of paper and to observe the different angles. In another aspect, it is also the problem of what and how the opinion is located in the great value, and has what kind of capability. Reading and writing is helpful us better understand the meaning and the purpose of an article. Last but not least, all the previous three steps are helpful to understand and organize my thoughts before writing, and writing process is the step to transfer thoughts into articles. A good writing makes it easy for audiences to understand. When finishing an article, it is always good and necessary step to check if the article is coherent. 

The first course of Writing was held today, I was expecting this professional Writing for a long time. As an international student, I believe I am pretty good as calculations, answering questions and all the rest homework which has specific limitation and direction though. Readings and writings, especially writings, including reports, essays, thesis, etc., make me headache every time. After careful thinking and looking into experiences, I think my writing anxiety is probably brought by three reasons. 

Firstly, it is limited readings. Since English is my second language, most material I read in the past are not in this language. I tried a lot when I made the decision that I want to study in the U.S. though. Secondly, it is because that I am not familiar with English writing styles and types. Thirdly, it is lacking of confidence. Academic journals were really not covered in my old reading materials, either in Chinese nor English. I indeed took some learning memoir, however, they were did out of interesting or learning purpose in the way of my personal preference and consider myself as the only reader. 

After the first course of WRA 110 to get a general understanding of this course, I believe I find a right tool to help me cure writing headache. In this course, professor introduces different types of writings, readings and assignments, which divided understanding and tools of reading and writing into pieces, so that we can learn and practice from easy to hard. I started to like this course, which shows me where to start to understand and improve writing skills.  

In the process of learning to write an essay, I have learnt to plan an essay before writing. Before starting to write an essay, the outline could use the list in the form of inductive thinking, namely brainstorming. This approach is demonstrated the free writing with the same nature, require writers to open ideas, fully associative, and do not take into account the views is completely subject. Using the list of inductive ideas, it is not necessary to have to write sentences. Usually, inductive thinking is divided into two steps: the first step, all content related themes can be thought together to write; the second step is to write these ideas or details of classified, and remove irrelevant contents. If the thought of the content is limited, only a few points, so it is necessary to continue the association, or by reading to gather ideas. Not only the brainstorming, but also drawing a picture is used for quick structuring an essay. 

The drawing picture was conceived in a visual form of organization of ideas, it is more than the image text outline or list forms; it can stimulate the writers fully associative. Drawing pictures are tending to start from the center of the paper, write the main idea in a circle. Then outlines several radial branches as a sub argument mainly from the circle, point and can have more arguments details. To start such a layer upon layer, can enrich the contents of the article. Drawing a picture would enhance the performance of the brainstorming.

Attempting to build the portfolio is valuable experiences in my life. In the process of the portfolio building, I have spent a lot of time to set up the website framework. The first application step is to applicate the domain name. .com (international domain name) ancon (domestic domain name) is appropriate, of course there are many different suffix domain name, such as.Cc,.Net. Of course, is the most used we often see.Com; second step is buying space. As the name implies, is the storage space, Webpage content place. A website program, data, is all on the inside; the third step is Spatial domain are ready, now began to make a site content; the fourth step is Then, the domain name resolves to the address space, use the FTP upload the website program. Begin to build, set up the database, and then log on to the background related settings simple. A web site is on the forming; the fifth step is to maintain the content after the setting. 

After my own website, I would like to insert the picture and paper to share with my friends. Sometimes, blogs are post online. The readers normally leave the feedbacks after reading the blogs with comments. I believed that blog is the place to make the friends and share the views on the internet space. As my experience, the friends could come from internationally to know the know the different views from the world sight which is the extend the sights for me and make the international friends. 

Retrospective report is the recorder what I have done through this semester of this course. In my memory, two significant assignments are remembered during the studying of the course. Of course, the first assignment is the report; the report is built based on the contents what I have learnt during the semester in the course. To complete this report, I have reviewed the lecture materials and tutorials, combined with my understanding to finish this reports. In the process of the completing the report, I have already well learnt the contents of the study and also the application of the knowledge. Apparently, the requirement of the report is straightforward for me based on the knowledge of this course. Generally, this report is easy for me; the second assignment is to build the website to introduce the content of this course. In the quickly to get to learn the contents of this subjects, the details of the websites are based on the material what we have written for this subjects. The coming students could learn the information on this course and also know the experience on how study the course. In addition, I believe that the website is the communication bridge between the current students and future students. However, the future students could benefit from the website. However, the creating the website has spent me a lot of time to create and maintain it and used for the coming students. I believed this website is good for the future students based on the prior experiences. 

The remix project is the valuable experience in the studying program. Apart from the details of the project, it is the cooperation namely teamwork rather than the individually. In the teamwork< I have played a role as the editor. From the teamwork, I have learnt the importance of the team building. In the first step is to teambuilding that is ice-breaker, it is the time to get to know each other and introduce the roles of the teams. In the teamwork, I always a leader have played an important role in the success of the teamwork performance. Of course, I am a team leader in the team but also a team member in the team work. As the role of the team leader, the crucial role is to make the significant decision when the difficult situation is coming and urgent affairs are facing. In my memory, when the equipment is broken, but time is limited, the decision needs to be made. This emergency has been solved by the call to borrow the other one nearby. These affairs happened through this project. Besides that, the team cooperation is also important for the team performance, the other team members are all contributed the free time to record the project, times by times, once by once. Furthermore, the strategy for the teamwork would guide the teamwork; the final strategy is discovered and agreed with the team members. The project has done by the team contributions. 

In my knowledge, blog is the communication page sharing my views, opinions and knowledge on the specific topic and interests. In the world, the blog is an easy job like recorders what I have done a day. The difficult is to insist to do so. The first rule is to the original! Blog is the most important content. If your content is other places are seen, then how can we attract users? Adhere to the original is blog far reason! In addition, write my own fields which I am good at, if write not line their own field, outsiders look at nothing, if it is for my words, so he can only see your jokes. In my blog, it has already attracted a lot of the readers to read that I have recorder the story which I have suffered each day and also I have written the some interesting novels in the blogs which have waiting for the updating for the new chapter. In the place, I have helped the readers to release the burdens on the life to relax on my writing. Interesting and jokes are both two exciting parts on my homepages; these contents are all created by me. Besides that, some pictures and music could bring the readers relax more after the hard working. In general, in my blog you could find out the happiness and fun in the blog. In addition, in the process of the creating, I know what the readers are interested in. 

Reference is the crucial part to avoid the academic copying; the style is the MLA format, which I have learnt in the high school. In my memory, to learn the skill how to write the academic references are very important for us to know the structures of the references. To get to know this style, the contents of this reference is hard to remember in the logical way. The order of the reference is hard to remember in the first time. First time to adopt the reference style, I am fully according with the sample, the author and time and other information. I have found that this was tough job to be done because this is hard to under the logical of the structure. However, this reference has own way to organize from its own way. In addition, the quick way to learn is the practice more, knowing quickly from the repeating the copying. 

Besides the reference list, the in-text citation is very important to reader to find the copy form the text. Of course, my job can be done by other’s finding, it is necessary to respect for others’ working on their behalf that is academic honest. In this respective, this is very urgent to use the MLA reference style. Though there is advance internet tool to record the reference style, I supposed that the practice is easy job to be done. In the knowledge of the prior academic and researchers, I could find the interesting of the knowledge.

Today, a friend of mine commented me really patient. I am not sure she is correct though; I have been following the ABC medical series Grey’s Anatomy for five years which will reach its season eleven in this fall. Five years ago, my cousin introduced this series to me when its season five had right finished. This show is about a bunch of residents who has just finished their doctor study at college and start learning practice in a teaching hospital, how they survive from high pressure and long work hour, how they live their lives, make friends, love, hate, etc. The doctor’s competitive spirit, fight for dreams, life intelligence, stubborn insistence, occasionally staidness, etc. makes them human to me. Watching this show reminds me the pursuit of my dreams, love of my friends and life, etc. it gives a tons of positive spirit.  

Today I finished the finale of season ten, one of my favorite characters, Christina Yang left. She is first class surgeon, was one of the most outstanding resident, which graduated from one of the top college with combined doctor degrees. In one word, she has the most shining resume. However, she suffered dyslexia in college, watched her father died in front of her eyes in a car accident, was abandoned on the wedding by her fiancé, survived from plane crash but suffered severe PTSD, divorced… though this story may sounds too dramatic, however, the charm of this show is that it makes all the character lives by their own will. We can see how Christina survives from all these bad things and finally become the cardio surgeon she dreamed of and chasing her dream in a bigger stage, an extraordinary cardio center in Switzerland. 

I was sorry that Christina would be no longer available in this show. However, on the other hand, I grow up with the character in this show. I and my friends have also been separated to pursuit our dreams, careers.
