Creative Problem Solving Approaches
Referred/deferred assessment 2008 to 2009
You will have been advised which component of assessment to complete (1, 2 or 3). Only resubmit the assessment specified. The requirements of all 3 components of assessment (and reassessment) are included here for completeness. You are required to complete the outstanding assessment individually.
Assignment 1
You will need to identify a 'problem' that has no obvious structured solution, and that is of interest to you, potentially the Business School or an employer. You should choose a problem situation that you have some knowledge of and will allow you to apply the ideas, concepts and techniques from the course. The key to this task is the techniques of problem identification and definition (and redefinition). Considerable creativity can go into redefining a problem so that movement on it is possible. This requires imagination (what is possible as a viewpoint on the problem) and patience (not making an immediate judgment).
This assignment is your opportunity to explore a problem situation that you can work with. You are likely to describe this problem situation in a number of ways and obtain the views of various stakeholders. Techniques should be used for problem identification and problem definition. Definition and redefinition is seen as important, and should facilitate problem movement. The approach should be creative and new insights into the problem situation generated.
Individual report: between 1500 and 3000 words
Assignment 2
You should be able to work on the problem situation described and explored in assignment one (if not, you will need to define one). Managing problem movement and redefinition are seen as important at all stages of problem solving but this assignment is mostly concerned with 'moving on' and using the techniques of idea generation.
You should show how a range of creativity techniques can generate lots of new ideas, new insights and new perspectives on the problem. This is your chance to develop and demonstrate some of the craft skills of problem solving.
In this assessment you are expected to produce lots of ideas and show your creativity.
You should submit an individual portfolio that gives evidence of the techniques used and presents the range of ideas generated.
Length: between 1500 and 3000 words
英国Assignment 3
This assignment is about your individual view of the stages of problem solving. It also requires that you should consider how chosen ideas might be implemented. It involves a personal evaluation of the complete process of Creative Problem Solving as you have experienced it.
You will have worked on two assignments and used a range of problem solving techniques. This is your chance to report on your ways of working, your experience of using the techniques and your experience of the problem solving process. You can consider issues such as your closeness to the problem situation, your previous problem solving experience, your role within the group, your relationship with a group, your problem solving preferences and any measures you may have of preference or performance. You can also outline any ideas you have about implementation.#p#分页标题#e#
You can also refer to your experience in a group, any records you have kept and course material. You can include a self-appraisal. You should consider your learning and the implications for your future approaches to problem solving.
