You are a UK distributor of men’s shirts who is seeking to appoint a new overseas supplier – you have identified a possible manufacturer in Shanghai, China.

As this is the first time your company will have been involved in international business, the Managing Director has requested an analysis of the stages through which your company might go in order to develop a lasting relationship with this Chinese manufacturer. He also wishes to know the variables involved (and their comparative importance), at each of the stages of the process, and the potential resource requirements.
