2. Hos your airline or region which it operates in fully recovered from the impact of 9/11 and the economic challenges of the first five years on the 21st Century? Have the changes that airlines have been forced to mark created a whole new set of challenges?
3. Is your proposed airline portfolio a member of and global alliance? Are alliances necessary beneficial to all the partner, is demand stimulated by factors other than alliances and for some airlines have alliances been more of hindrance than a help in bringing about the growth and development of new markets? What roles does marketing and branding of the individual airline have to play?
4. What benefits has deregulation in the US and liberalisation in Europe brought to the industry. Are there now fewer major airlines than 20 years ago? Is today’s competitive market place making it more difficult for new airline operations? Is air traffic space available to allow expansion and what difficulties might new airlines encounter in getting slots at major airports/key times? What constraints are imposed by surface access and infrastructure considerations?
5. How far can cost savings and productivity improvements go to cope with the future? What impact will the new A 380 have? Is competition intensifying and can national carriers fight off the threat of low-cost competition especially in Europe?
6. Can airline safety be improved further and how? Will low cost airlines short cut safety procedures or does operating a limited number of aircraft types minimise the risks. Will the ATC systems throughout the world be able to cope with an ever increasing number of aircraft movements? Can the growth of air travel be sustained?
7. Which markets does your airline operate in and are these likely to be growth markets in the future?
What are the major trends in the markets in which you proposed porposed portfolio will operating? A useful website here is “Business Premier” availabel through on line library resources under “databases,”. Look up Oxford Economic Forecasting or “Economy Prospects” and you will find “ World Economic Prospects” giving a monthly review of the world economy plus other iseful references. You will have to “dig around” a little and try alternatve phrases if what you are looking for does not come up.#p#分页标题#e#
