1. How many employees are there in your company?
26.
2. What proportion do the Hungarians and local Chinese account for?
8 out of 26 are Hungarians and the rest are Chinese.
3. What are their main positions?
In management level there are 2 Chinese and 1 Hungarian. In waiter and waitress position nearly half and half, but there are only Chinese in the kitchen.
4. How do you take into account the employment of local Chinese and Hungarians? Is good Hungarian/Chinese or English language skill a must?
Professional skills and willingness to work are required. The local language - Hungarian is a must and also some common sense of other languages like aqua (French) and spaghetti (Italian).
5. What is the main difference between Chinese and Hungarian employees? Did it bring any difficulties into your management?
There’s no difference. Many of them have worked for me more than 5 years.指导assignment
6. Are there any differences in compensation and benefits of local Chinese and Hungarians? If there are, what are the main reasons?
There are some differences. For example, dinners are provided for Chinese employees twice a day, but for Hungarians they will get more salary instead. It was the same few years ago, but Hungarians can’t have Chinese food every day and they started to complain.
7. What role does IHRM play in the whole operation of your company?
It’s very important, especially for a more than 20-employee service business.
8. What kind of quality do you think an owner of a multinational company should have? Have you ever received any training for this?
The communication skills and the ambition for improvement. I don’t have to be trained for this (Haha), but I can replace any role in my restaurant even in the kitchen, if anyone’s absent. We also offer training for fresh guys.
9. What’s your viewpoint of cultural diversity?
I like it! You know as a Chinese Belgian, I can speak many languages including Hungarian/I’ve also been to many countries and I love communicating with people from different cultures.
10. What does cultural diversity bring into IHRM? Is it an opportunity or challenge?
I think both. It’s an opportunity that your management skill could be improved since you can learn more through employees from different cultures, but it’s also a challenge that you have seek the most proper way to manage the business.
11. Do local Chinese and Hungarian staff working in harmony or conflict? If there are conflicts sometimes, what are the main reasons?
I wish they could work in a harmony, but conflicts exist. The main reasons are communication problems and jealousy.#p#分页标题#e#
12. Could you illustrate some typical examples of conflict caused by cultural diversity in your company?
Like the dinner thing I mentioned, I transferred the dinner into more salary paying to Hungarians, but they think the money I add is much less than the valuation of the dinners and I might prefer the Chinese employees since I’m also Chinese.
13. What do you think is the principle for solving these?
I think frequent meetings between me and supervisors are very necessary.
14. Could you tell me some general business data of your company?
It’s hard to tell the numbers now, but for a restaurant the “returning customers” can show something. Nowadays, our restaurant is mainly depending on those returning customers, so it means the business is running quite well.
15. Do you think there is any connection between IHRM and your business profitability?
Yes, the connection is huge! For a service business, poor HRM will lead to very bad performance directly.
