Analysis on Food Availability in Malawi
1.0 Introduction
Food is the first necessity of the people. The problem of food concerns with the http://www.ukassignment.org/jndzydx/ security and peace of a country’s stability in politics and economics. Malawi has a problem on the food availability. In December 2010 of the cyclone season, and even until now the island is under the thread of food availability (O & M, 2003, p.12-23). The input price has increased by between five and ten percent, however the subsidy has been suspended. The food is adequate such as the supplies of staple, cereal, rice, etc. Due to the problem of food more than 200,000 jobs were lost in 2009 (O & M, 2003, p.12-23). Therefore, it is necessary to call the attention on the food security. With this purpose, there paper intends to propose some analysis, suggestions to the ministry of agriculture in Malawi. The relationship between food availability and education, energy, gender and other factors has close relationship.
This paper consists of four parts. The first part is an introduction with the writing aim, purpose, and the organization of the whole paper. The second part is the review on the analysis toward food availability of the peer reviewed research in food availability base. The third part is the main body aiming to analysis on food availability in Malawi, which includes the situation, analysis, and suggestions on food availability in Malawi. Last but not least, part four draws a natural conclusion of the whole paper.

2.0 Review on the analysis toward food availability
The food availability is a hot debated issue around the world. Its function is obvious at home and abroad for the imports and exports of production. Some countries has the surplus of food production, however, some country are short of food, such as Malawi. The inadequate food supply will stop a country’s development in various aspects, such as in economics, politics, education, etc. The food availability problem has troubled Malawi a lot. Many researches have been done on the food availability. Chen & Kates (1994, p.192-208) focused on the prospects and trend of world food security. It mentions the food security world will produce sufficient production for its citizens to enjoy. Food is the basic necessity of human beings. The unbalance between food availability and necessity will lead to famine, diseases, illness, as well as economic and political problems. Just as the discussion of Barrett (2002, p.2103-2190), it has pointed that food security and food assistance programs will answer the threat of food insecurity. The southern Africa is in a food crisis of shocking range and areas. The natural environment and human’s behavior and conduct will have an influence on the food problem. Towards the cases in Malawi, Devereux (2002, p.70-78) has carried on a study on Malawi famine of 2002, which has explained the trigger factors such as livelihood shocks and response failures and the underlying causes.
Form the above mentioned, a conclusion can be drawn that the food availability is a key issue should be attracted the attention of Malawi’s government’s attention.
3.0 Analysis on food availability in Malawi
In order to arouse the attention of ministry of agriculture in Malawi, the situation on food availability in Malawi will be presented in this part at first. Then it will analyze in accordance with the situation. Finally the some suggestions on food availability will be proposed to the ministry of agriculture in Malawi.
3.1 Situation on food availability in Malawi

Although the situation in Malawi is better than the other African countries, however, it is still necessary to call the government’s attention on the significance of food problems, which has close relation with people live.
3.2 Analysis on food availability in Malawi
Recent years, the attention of Malawi has paid to industries is overweight than agriculture. Therefore the agriculture problem becomes sharper than the other problems, especially the food availability problems. It mainly reflects in the following aspects.
First, the input resources into agriculture are inadequate. The development of agriculture mainly depends on science and technology, politics, as well as investment. The politics inclination will encourage the people’s interest to plant. More science and technology’s input can reduce peoples’ burden on tedious work on the land, which can also stimulate their work on farming. Second, the excellent farming land is taken up by the construction sits for economic development. This adds the worries and tense of food availability. Third, the farmer’s activeness on planting is reducing. The prices between the agricultural and sideline products and agricultural means of production are imbalanced. Due to less people farming, the increase of agricultural means of production is faster than the agricultural and sideline products. The farmers feel growing can not earn, so they will reduce the growing area. This will lead to the shortage of food.
The above mentioned issues lead Malawi into the inadequate of food.
3.3 Suggestions on food availability in Malawi
The shortage of food has become the new modern military invasion of our times. The agriculture department in Malawi can adopt various ways to change the food availability problems in Malawi. The details for suggestions are listed below.
First, strengthen the current cultivating land in Malawi, which is the basic to continue the following work.
Second, adopt advanced science and technology to optimize the agriculture. To increase the added value of the agriculture products can help the farmer to earn more money and get more profits. Besides the green agriculture movement in the world also occurs in Malawi. The using and practice of science and technology can produce the high value added products and save more labor resources. Besides, the quantity and quality of the food amount can be increased and enhanced.
Third, solve the problems in accordance with the urgency. In accordance with the layer of the contradiction and expected issues, the food availability problems can be classified into the long term, middle term and short term plan and goal. The sequence for solving can be done based on this order to define the relation of economics and current economics interest. The balance of the real and the goal is the best solution. The solution for the short term should serve the long term goal. Only in this way the relief of the contraction is on the achievement of the long term goal.
4.0 Conclusion
These are the issues of food availability in Malawi. The food availability becomes more and more conspicuous. It can trouble the education and politics of Malawi. The future work can be done step by step form the short term, middle term goal and plan to the long term pursuit. Besides, the advanced science and technology should also be adopted in science and technology. Only in this way the food availability problem can be relived in Malawi.
