1. Introduction

This analysis is written to discuss the working stress in teaching and analyze the relationship between teachers and education context. This analysis is aimed to find out how the education context changes influence teachers’ pressures and what the results are. Also how to deal with teachers pressures in order to build up a healthy and well-operated education context

As R Blaug, A Kenyon, R Lekhi acknowledged(2007 P 1), In this knowledge-based economy time, people endure more and more pressure on http://www.ukassignment.org/lxszy/ account of the rapid pace of life and the competitive working environment, so as the teacher staffs. As is known to all, teaching is the greatest profession which is supposed to construct people’s soul and build up their minds. As a matter of fact, teachers are imposed by some pressures either from society and education context. Since occupational stress turns out to be a common but serious phenomenon, especially the teacher group’s pressure becomes significant problem which needs full attention.

2. Background

There is nothing more important to the future quality of life and standard of living in Australia than education. Australia has a comprehensive and inclusive educational system which performs very well in international comparisons, meeting requirements for a well educated citizenry and workforce. Average standards are high and the best students and schools are among the best anywhere. But with the development of education context, there is no exception for issues occurring. It is undeniable that the education context is complex but not sound enough in Australia. There are two main issues concerned about the education context changes: it is difficult to ensure the sufficient numbers of qualified teachers for the demands from growing number of students and it is difficult to reduce the work stress which teachers are undertaking for higher education.

1. It is difficult to ensure the sufficient numbers of qualified teachers for higher education
One very significant issue to address is the way schools are organised and operated, and how teachers are assigned to teaching duties. It is a feature of secondary schooling that some teachers are not teaching either the first or second subjects in which they qualified as trainees.

According to a national survey of teachers, only 62.5 percent of secondary teachers who had specialised in a subject taught it as their first main subject, and a substantial percentage were not teaching as either their first or second main subject the subject in which they held the highest qualifications. The figure above suggests that a number of teachers of all subjects teach ‘out of field’ for many reasons.

2. It is difficult to cope with the work stress that teachers are undertaking.
In modern society, teachers get high pressure but society and the public seem to pay low attention and support to their high job stress. High job stress was associated with low social support at work and greater use of coping by disengagement and suppression of competing activities. It is suggested by C Anne (1996) that teachers’ pressure needs to pay high attention to. People all admit that teacher is such http://www.ukassignment.org/lxszy/ an important role in society for educating people’s soul and minds. What if the teachers’ teaching system breaks down only because of the high pressure and being unvalued? Undoubtedly the education context is changing due to society of rapid development is changing. It is suggested that behavioral disengagement and suppression of competing activities are maladaptive responses in a teaching environment and may actually contribute to job stress. The support from society and the public could basically help teachers to cope with the pressures and acquire competitiveness.

In one word, society and the public need to show the support and encouragement to teachers and find solutions to cope with the great pressure teachers undertake, also show the support to the policies that government established to ensure the sufficient numbers of qualified teachers. So that teachers could build up a well-organized education system, for all of the young generation in Australia.
