Employee wellness programs, which are regarded as nice extra, are actually a strategic imperative. This article starts with the examples of various companies which take wellness programs and states the achievements they get, followed by research about various organization whose wellness programs have achieved great results and then work out six pillars of a successful wellness program. At the end of the article, there lists the outcome of workplace wellness, which means what can wellness programs bring to improve the company.

This article tells us what is workplace wellness, which I think is only about employees’ health care without thinking about its benefit to the development of the whole company. Through the definition of workplace wellness, I know that a good wellness programs can help employees reduce health risks, thus enhancing their life quality, so as to make achievements for the whole company. Nowadays, there appears to be the trend that the percentage of unhealthy employees has dropped in various companies, which brings benefit to those companies. Therefore I understand the meaning of the pictures at the beginning of this article, health employees is equal to money.

The first one is six pillars, which makes a good example for those companies who want to create a comprehensive wellness programs. While the second one makes me feel more interested, that is the fruits of workplace wellness. A good wellness programs will help the company lower costs, stimulate employees to have greater productivity and create higher morale for the whole company. So we can see that wellness programs can bring company so much good things, I guess after reading this article, the managers in company will have a new understanding of what is wellness program and start to rethink their existing one.
