IPR Assignment - full brief
Module Number DE0873
Creative Thinking Skills and Intellectual Property
Assignment 1 - Intellectual Property Rights
Assignment Brief
You are asked to enquire into the intellectual property rights relating to your practice work and your learning contract.
Your report may concentrate on any aspects of intellectual property appropriate to your practice including Copyright, Design Right, Design Registration, Registered Trade and Service Marks and Patents. You will find that some aspects are more relevant to you than others so concentrate on these but remember that rights in any work are a collection of related intellectual property.
There are certainly also issues relating to the level of protection you are likely to receive in different parts of the world. Intellectual property law in the UK for example is very clear and well enforced by the courts whereas in Malaysia it is easy to buy imitation clothing and watches and copied software.
What if you are working in Malaysia and selling your design work around the world, what are your rights? How are British designers rights affected if they are working for a Chinese company? The Essay is provided by UK Assignment http://www.ukassignment.org
You may wish to explore the way you can best protect your own original work around the world and your report may focus entirely on the issues that are important to you in your professional practice.
Submission Requirements
You are required to prepare a document of approximately 1800 words.
Your report should explain the differences between the various forms of IPR, their creation, robustness, applicability and their strengths and weaknesses.
You should propose appropriate action to take, to capture, retain and manage a mix of IPR for a particular project or design. Your document should also explore how to trace and negotiate rights for IPR held by others and comment on the IPR context of your work worldwide.
