Learning outcomes covered:
1. Critically appraise the history of management and the way it has evolved to accommodate
and sustain an enhanced customer focus;
2. Evaluate different facets of organisational and individual behaviour and how these are
influenced by the policies, procedures and processes adopted by the firm;
3. Assess the importance of managing equality and diversity and determine the appropriate
strategies that facilitate the enactment of, and commitment to, such practices throughout
the firm;
4. Analyse the role of the human resource management function in achieving prosperity and
success for stakeholders though the implementation of effective policies and procedures
Choice of topics:
Participants may select ONE of the following topics. (Good reports should be able to use and apply the Management and Organizational Behaviors concepts, theories, models, and approaches learned during the course, in the textbook and journals. Credits will be given to the participants that can support their arguments with evidence that you have observed or gathered, and also presented in academic manner. The suggested number of words for the report is 3,000 – 4,000.)
1. Identified some theories of work motivation and elaborate how they can be applicable in staff management or/and understanding the organizational behaviours of your staff members in any organization that you are familiar with.
2. Discuss any one or few theories of leadership theories and conclude some essential features of effective leadership in one organization that you are familiar with.
3. Critically evaluate the strengths and limitations of scientific management approach in an organization that you are familiar with. Suggest some improvement of this approach in the organization that you cited in this essay.
4. Give examples of major changes in an organization that have resistance from its staff members. Suggest some actions that can overcome the resistance and secure effective change.
5. Propose two or three best methods to enhance the competencies of managers in an organisation with which you are familiar. Also, suggest evaluation mechanism to show achievement to the top management in the organization selected.

1. Executive summary

2. Declaration (Refer to the Appendix : Sample Declaration)
3. Table of contents
Sections and subsections must be clearly shown.
4. Introduction (5%)
Provide a brief description of the company background, scope of your study and the
objectives you want to achieve. (150-200 words)
5. Literature review (30%)
Provide a detailed analysis and report of the relevant theories, concepts and research.
(900-1200 words)
6. Discussions and analysis (45%)
Provide a detailed illustration of the research process. Collect valid data to form the basis
of discussions and analysis and the meaningful findings may result. Both primary data
(e.g. from personal interviews) and secondary data (e.g. Websites) are to be equally
considered. (1350-1800 words)
7. Conclusion and recommendations (20%)
A summary of the findings and a general assessment of the situation. These must focus on
the conclusion and be practical for implementation. Realistic and feasible
recommendations with a study of findings must be provided. (600-800 words)
8. References
A listing of the sources of your information such as journals, literature and websites.
