Introduction In the Jasmine Life, the heroine was born in Iran. Because of dissatisfaction with the tyranny of the Iranian, the heroine had to choose to leave Iran to other countries. In other countries, she had a tragic love, for which she went back to Iran then. Iran is the hometown of the heroine, even if the outer years, the heroine still could not help but homesickness and return home, but finally chose to leave because of the closed of the Iranian. In the novel, the heroine had a similar story; her love was also a HARDSHIP. When we see these works, we feel sorry for the two heroines and sigh for these tragic fates, but after that we want to know what led to the sad ending. After careful reading, it might arise out of the experiences of two girls separated from their home countries. Loneliness made them feel the lack of security. Certainly those confusions reflected them when they pursuit for love. A lonely person who was living in a foreign country, without friends around, would feel the insecure because of the unfamiliar culture and other reasons, which will make them try their utmost to adapt their life even it may be blind, and then because of this, people will have different standards to chose friends or mates, like the heroines in Going Ashore and "Jasmine Life". In this essay, I plan to look at the specific language in the novel and film, to find out the reasons.
The Comparison between Jasmine Life and Going Ashore In the novel, we are very concerned about the reasons for the final break up of the two protagonists. In order to understand the reason, we should now pay more attention to the exactly meaning of "her life", what kind of life is "her life"? It had earned her a PhD and a tenure-track job, that was the important things and "in January, she would marry Navin" (page 294). From this, we can know she will have a lifetime job as a classical professor and marry to Navin. At last, based on what we have already discussed above, we have known that the reason caused them break up is Hema does not like the life to be a tramp which Kushika does. But why Hema does not like to roam and why Kushika always love walking around the world.
