Under normal circumstances, the media refers to a variety of communication means. It is one of the most powerful tools for communication in order to help promoting the right thing at the right time. In various periods, the media plays an important role in helping focusing on social problems. In most times, the issues reported by media are true. However, the media fails to be given a fair and equal opportunity to explore the more open social problems. It is considered to be a problem of the controversial and moral value including the ideology and hegemony. Firstly, the ideology about the media studies is supported by many other aspects in the media, with it being also an important concept. The ideology is a world view including the values, attitudes or beliefs among any individual, group or society, which is a true or important system to share a culture or society. The ideology in the important social institutions, such as the church and the government, is repeatedly told so-called mainstream ideology including the beliefs of roles claimed by them. With the beliefs in the mainstream ideology, it is often effectively dissuaded to resist these beliefs in order to maintain a sense of stability in the society. The consumption has been the dominant ideology in the western world since the industrial revolution (Croteau and Hoynes, 2003b). Consumerists have a world view that a person may make the consumption, if he or she has more material wealth to be more worthy of their consumer goods. Media texts always reflect certain ideologies, althoug http://www.ukassignment.org/mgzydx/ h sometimes there may not be an awareness of them. With the force, an example might solve a problem in some of the media texts, such as the action movies seen as an acceptable value to reflect a certain ideology (Hall, 2011). The media is a carrier for an ideology of success, because it reaches such a large number of audiences. Media research is allowed to consider the questions about the mainstream ideology in order to look for different ideologies and values systems. Therefore, it can be seen that the world view on the dominant ideological problems has focused on the views in media research from the point of the particular ideologies.
Moreover, in comparison, the hegemony is a theory which is related to the ideology and power. It shows that the power and force of the ruling group in the society, and it is also allowed to maintain their power because of its importance in society. It is believed to fight for the control in some democratic countries around the world. In some cases, some of these democratic countries will rely on the force, and others tried to persuade and to obtain the hegemony in a subtle way.
In media research, the hegemony refers to the way on behalf of political and social issues in the mass media such as the movie and television (Croteau and Hoynes, 2003a). These representations are conducive to the interests of the dominant groups, and make the rest of the population agree with the political and social system. With no movie or television, the entertainment media is considered to be politics so as to direct promote the information and to protect the government's policy, but rather it may support all of these views which can be found in popular examples. Some early analysis showed that some movies provide various structures on other racial ethnic. With some exotic and expendable ambiguity, it is also resourceful and clever to require some post-imperial hypothesis and to provide a middle way role in international conflicts (Rayner, Wall and Kruger, 2001). Obviously, it can follow the code of neutrality and balance in these procedures, aiming to the equal time for each party. However, as the only viable democracy in the form of legalization, this debate as the whole political system is portrayed. It is never regarded as a seriously and radically alternative, and it may not be cross-party consensus. Critics may find the major political impacts, but the ordinary viewers may not even know them. Perhaps, academic analysis in the media is more general so that the hegemony refers to the indirectly political control, and it often replaces the need of constantly and directly military or political domination with the exercise of the kind opponents in the colonial countries. With more specific impacts, the concept for the rules in the form of a nation-state needs to be explained. Therefore, the mass media can be seen as the dominant groups to support their request and to play an important role in the rules. The interpretation about current events and debates continue to focus on the development and dissemination of ideas, in order to adapt the leading concept and classification.
In conclusion, it has been shown that the existence of ideology and hegemony will affect the media research. The ideological formation between the power and media types makes an interpretation in the social world. The ideology is generally considered to be normal and expected, but it is often biased and one-sided. In contrast, the hegemony contains different ideas, and it sometimes incites a battle in the media texts. Therefore, the ideology and hegemony will make an impact on the media. The impact has become less, but it still exists in recent times.
