Training Project
MGT 614
Welcome to your second opportunity to perform! The Training and Development Project will give you the opportunity to design a real program using tools and theory from the text, readings, and lectures. 指导ASSIGNMENT You should view this project as a formal and professional product, so format, structure, spelling, visual aids, and other facets should reflect that. Please refer to the lecture on this subject for additional information and expectations.
Scenario Assumptions—
Use the same assumptions given for the Needs Assessment Project.
In addition:
• Management approved your Needs Assessment proposal. You performed it and it clearly showed the need for sexual harassment training at all three sites. You uncovered male on female, female on male, and female on female harassment episodes as well as a couple of examples of hostile work environments.
• Management does not want the weekly performance to diminish, so whatever time is provided for training will have to be made up in the offices and production areas that week. In other words, the time the hourly-paid employees are in training will be counted as overtime. Keep this in mind when trying to maximize learning while keeping costs down.
• And speaking of costs, management likes employees who control their spending habits, so purchasing pre-packaged training programs or training videos is out of the question. Also, since “getting the most bang for the buck” is the corporate mantra, keeping the training time to a minimum is very important
• The employees found past training programs boring and often fell asleep during them. The last thing anyone wants to do is to work extra hours because of a training program.
Your Assignment—
You will develop a training program and construct a manual for employees regarding their rights and obligations on sexual harassment and submit the manual and any electronic programs or files. You http://www.ukassignment.org/daixieAssignment/xinjiapodaixieassignment/may use Word and PowerPoint if you like. This manual must be formatted for someone else to give the training, not you.
The Project must be formatted as stated below:
• Cover sheet indicating the subject, class, your name, and date.
• The sheets that follow should have the margins set for 1.25” for left and 1” for the other three sides.
• 12 point font (preferably Arial or Times New Roman) should be used. Bold and/or underline the section headings.
The following items must appear in this order:
• Table of Contents (immediately following the cover sheet)—do not forget to include page numbers in the table and on the pages. I suggest you use the “Table” command for better alignment and the “Footer” commands to properly insert the page numbers on the pages.#p#分页标题#e#
• Section 1—Format—give an overview of this training including how it will be presented (lecture, CD-ROM, etc.) and why this is the preferred format. Be sure to explain why this format is the best way to ensure learning of the subject will occur. Also include the amount of time the training will take and how it should be delivered to the employees on all shifts and in all locations.
• Section 2—Training Objectives—list the objectives exactly how we have learned to do them from the lecture and assignment. Ensure that the objectives match the material presented in the manual.
• Section 3—Physical Resources—describe all of the resources which will be needed. Be sure to include handouts, media, flipcharts, screen, speaker system, and anything else that the trainer will need to have ready to present this program. If this will be a traditional training method (i.e. “live”), describe how the room, tables (if any), and chairs should be laid out and why.
• Section 4—Costs—break down and then total the cost estimations for materials, 指导ASSIGNMENT trainee pay, and anything else the training program will require. Put this in a table format using the “Table” command in the toolbar.
• Section 5—Lesson Plan—use the format shown in the text for this course to make a separate one page lesson plan. Some of the information for this section is being asked for in other sections of this manual, and that’s okay. But other information (i.e. the lesson outline, activities, and timeline) is not. This is a page that must be able be taken out, copied, and used as a quick reference guide, so it should not have any other non related information on it.
• Section 6—Presentation—this should take up the bulk of the manual. In this section, include the complete script (whether the trainer lectures off of it “live” or on the computer), a description of audio-visual tools, citations, and anything else used. Throughout the script it should be highlighted how the trainer will check via trainee feedback to determine if learning is occurring to that point (include exact verbiage if this in the form of questions). The script must be broken out so whoever gives the training can follow it and knows what to ask and where in the script to ask it; the trainer must be able to tell what PowerPoint slides go with what part of the script. This must be simple enough for anyone to follow. Use your imagination for the presentation. Remember, employees found previous trainings boring!
• Section 7—Evaluations—include the tools to be used for Level 1 and Level 2 evaluations. Each tool should be on its own separate sheet. Include a separate answer sheet if a test is given. If something other than a traditional paper-and-pencil test is given, describe in detail how this will be accomplished. Explain what the minimum requirement will be to pass the training. Also explain what the process will be if a person does not pass the training.#p#分页标题#e#
• Section 8—Announcement—on a single page, include an announcement for the program that will be posted on the company bulletin board or sent via email (appropriate clip art, colors, and varying font are good attention getters and can help in developing interest even though the training will be mandatory). I will grade on how well this conveys enthusiasm to attend as well as the subject matter.
• Electronic Presentation—if you are planning on using PowerPoint, transparencies, or CD-Rom, include the electronic version as a separate file. If you do not have PowerPoint, you can still utilize MS Word or WordPerfect to develop some good slides or transparencies (set the paper orientation to “landscape”). Do not put the script word-for-word on the slides. Keep in mind the Al Gore article.
There are a lot of resources out there that you can access to help put this together. Do not “copy and paste” anything or use someone else’s training program, though. Use what is out there as a resource to guide you on writing your own original program and manual.
Remember, this is a manual that someone other than yourself will need to train from, so don’t assume the trainer can read your mind. Spell out exactly what the trainers are supposed to do.
Grading—
ASSIGNMENT指导The Project is worth 100 points. You will be graded on each of the points listed above and the requirements in the lecture. Spelling and grammar are worth 10%. The due date is on the schedule. Submit the project and applicable PowerPoint file in the Project link. If you submit it late, the points will be lowered at least one letter grade. Projects over one week past due will not be accepted. I will review and respond with feedback within a few days. You may email or call me if you have questions. Also, feel free to use the Q&A in the discussion forum to ask questions of me and your fellow students. Good luck!
