CREATIVE PROBLEM SOLVING ASSIGNMENTS Assignment 1 Group You will need to be part of a group that produces a report on a situation of concern. The report should identify a 'problem' that has no obvious structured solution, and that is of interest to you, potentially the Business School or an employer. You should choose a problem situation that you can work on over the year of the course, and one that will provide a suitable learning vehicle for you and the group. It must allow direct consultation with both owners of the problem and with stakeholders or people who are affected by the problem. The key to this task is the techniques of problem identification and definition (and redefinition). Considerable creativity can go into redefining a problem so that movement on it is possible. This requires imagination (seeing the problem is lots of different ways) and patience (not making an immediate judgment). This assignment is your opportunity to explore, as a member of a group, a problem situation to work with. You are likely to describe this problem situation in a number of ways and obtain the views of various stakeholders. Techniques are used for problem identification and problem definition. Definition and redefinition is seen as important, and should facilitate problem movement. The approach should be creative and new insights into the problem situation generated.
